Pumpkin Patch

We took Caroline to a pumpkin patch in town yesterday to get more pictures in the pumpkins. We went right after daycare and she's usually napping at that time so I was worried that she might be fussy. She wasn't fussy and even gave us a few smiles.

30 Weeks..

Miss Caroline turned 30 weeks old yesterday. I'll do a big update post this weekend when she turns 7 months old but she's eating purees again. I guess her ear infection was making her not want them. I'm relieved about that because I have several bags of purees in the freezer. She has a bad rash on her cheeks that her pedi calls a pacifier rash. I guess the combination of drool and the pacifier rubbing makes her cheeks raw. We've been putting Vaseline on them every chance we get and we sent some to daycare for them to use also.

Here are some pictures from Sunday evening on the back porch. The weather was awesome.

San Antonio Zoo

We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and take Caroline to the San Antonio Zoo. She met her friend Kadence there and they had a blast looking at the animals. They even got to pet some goats. I was really impressed with how big it was. We weren't sure how much the girls would enjoy the animals because they're still so young but they seemed to really like them.

Front yard photo shoot

After a morning of rain it turned out to be a nice evening so we decided to head outside to take some pictures.

Speaking of pictures, we booked a session with Libby Ann Photography in November and we're very excited! I also found out that I was one of the winners of the free mini session raffle put on by Life in Motion Photography and we booked our mini session for January. We haven't had professional pictures taken since our wedding and I can't wait to see what these two talented ladies can do. If only I still looked like I did on my wedding day.

29 Weeks..

Miss Caroline is 29 weeks old today. I can't believe she's now closer to 7 months than 6 months. She has her first ear infection right now. She was more fussy than normal for most of last week and has been refusing to eat purees. I thought she was just teething but she started pulling on her ear when we picked her up from daycare on Friday. I called her pedi's office at 4:45 (they close at 4:30) and told them my concerns and they said to go ahead and come in (this is why I love them!). She has an infection in one ear and was on the way to one in the other ear. She's now on antibiotics and she loves them..she gets so excited when I start shaking the bottle. She's still refusing purees but she hasn't been as fussy. I'm wondering if she's ready for finger foods already..or maybe she is teething. We'll keep trying the purees because I have quite a stash in the freezer.

I really would like to know what happened to my wonderful sleeper. :( We have been in the habit for about two weeks now of bringing Caroline into bed with us after the first few night wakings. I know we are totally bringing this on our selves by letting her sleep in our bed but it's so hard when you know you have to get up in a few hours to get ready for work. We really need to start working on keeping her in the crib.

This age is so fun. She loves being able to sit and play with toys on the floor. She laughs all the time..it's too cute. She really is a happy baby.

Here are some pictures from this past week.

My little flower...

Lyndsay Stradtner of Life in Motion Photography sent us Caroline's professional picture from the Halloween fundraiser that I posted about last week. She is so very talented and I wish we could afford to book a real session with her!

By the way, Caroline is the flower in the slide show. I'll post the picture directly on my blog this weekend.

28 Weeks and a Flat Head Update..

Miss Caroline turned 28 weeks old yesterday. I can't believe she's already halfway through her 6th month! We took the day off yesterday so we could take her to a follow-up appointment with the cranial facial surgeon. They wanted to take more pictures of her head to see if she's making progress (rounding out) on her own. Honestly, her head looks the same to me..I can't tell the difference at all. The doctor said she could tell a slight difference and they want to do another follow-up at 8.5 months. I really don't know why we're continuing to follow-up..we know we're not going to do a helmet and her case is purely cosmetic. I guess it's just nice to have reassurance that a helmet is not needed in her case.

The shrieking and mood swings are continuing. Caroline has not been her normal self the past few days and I'm hoping this isn't a permanent change. I think she might be teething again because she is drooling even more than normal, she doesn't seem as interested in solids anymore, she has a rash on her cheeks (she had this last time her teeth came in), and she is not consistently sleeping well at night.

Mario is on his first business trip since becoming a dad and I'm playing the role of a single mom until Friday evening. I've known from the start that he was a great dad, but I didn't realize how much I rely on him to help with Caroline. I had to sing If You're Happy and You Know It all the way to daycare this morning and she would start crying as soon as I stopped.

I haven't taken any pictures since my last update on Saturday. There will definitely be pictures after this weekend though. Caroline and I are going to be in a parade on Saturday! Her daycare is going to have a float at the Kyle Fair and Music Fest. The weather is supposed to be awesome this weekend..72 and sunny on Saturday..perfect weather for Caroline's first parade and fair.

27 Weeks..

I just posted a big 6 month update so this will be mostly pictures. We went to the second annual Little Monsters Halloween fundraiser today to raise money for the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center. Caroline wore her Halloween costume for the first time..a professional picture by the very talented Lyndsay Stradtner will be coming soon.

After the Halloween party we went to a pumpkin patch at Evergreen Farms in Elgin. Caroline had a lot of fun talking to the goats.

6 Month Stats..

Caroline had her 6 month pedi appointment yesterday and she now weighs 18lbs 7oz and is 26 inches long. She had been in the 75th percentile for height and weight from day one..now she's in the 90th percentile for weight and the 50-75th percentile for height. Shw doesn't look that chubby to me..but she does have her mommy's thighs. She may not be able to use the Bumbo for much longer because her thighs keep getting stuck..haha. I guess it's good timing since she's sitting on her own now.

Oh..and this is my 100th blog post. I started this blog to follow the progress of the house we were building, then it followed Jake's life, now it's mostly about Miss Caroline. It's funny how life progresses and priorities change..though I still love the house and the dog (most days).

Videos..sitting and laughing.

Caroline has become quite the sitter over the past few days. She can sit up for long periods of time. Please ignore my annoying voice.

More sitting...and more annoying baby talk

6 months old!!!

I can't believe Miss Caroline is already 6 months old! I wish time would have gone by this quickly when I was in high school! I say this all the time but I LOVE this age. She shows more of her personality every day and I just love watching her learn and explore. Her 6 month pediatrician appointment is on October 6th so we will know what her stats are after that. Speaking of her pedi, we just found out that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Let's see..what's new?
  • She is sitting unassisted for longer periods of time now
  • She's sleeping in her crib now..unswaddled!
  • She actually decided to sleep through the night again last night..I hope this is the start of something good
  • I'm still making her food and she loves it..I've made sweet potatoes, plums, carrots, and green beans so far
  • I'm never making green beans again..they won't get thin enough and she refuses to eat them..we're going to stick with the store bought green beans
  • She has tried puffs and yogurt melts and she likes them okay..I think the consistency is weird to her
  • We've let her start playing with sippy cups..she puts them up to her mouth but hasn't figured out how to tilt them up yet
  • She's starting to wear some 6-9 month clothes and some of her 3-6 month things are getting too short
  • She makes a "mmmm" sound when she's hungry instead of just crying
  • She tries to grab and reach for any and everything around her
  • She sits in high chairs when we go out to eat now..we carry the shopping cart cover in the car now
  • She rode in a Target shopping cart for the first time last week
  • She's still not rolling from back to belly but she's rolling from belly to back again
  • She's starting to try to scoot and she can spin herself 360 degrees
  • I'm sure there's much more, but that's all I can think of right now
