43 Weeks Old..

Caroline turned 43 weeks on Tuesday and she will be 10 months on Sunday! I can't believe it. She's cruising like a pro now. I wish we had more furniture for her to move around on. She refuses to use her push toy..she would rather push her musical table around on the laminate floors. I'm going to keep it short because I'll do a big 10 month post this weekend or shortly there after.

McFatty Monday..week 3

I was shocked when I stepped on the scale this morning, I lost 5.8 lbs. this week! Wow. I haven't changed anything, I'm still eating healthy and doing the Wii Active 30 Day Challege. I guess it's all catching up with me and it's really paying off. I have now gone 3 weeks without cheating at all! The key for me is to not have anything bad in the house. Like I've said before, I'm lucky that my husband is totally on board and supportive.

I entered my food into Sparkpeople for a few days last week to make sure that I was staying within my calorie goals and I have been right on track. It's cool that using Sparkpeople really taught me how to make healthy choices.

I can't walk through the office at work without someone stopping me and telling me how much weight I've lost and asking how I've done it. I'm definitely self conscious about everyone staring at me, but I also love it because it's keeping me accountable. I know when the comments stop that I've been slacking.

Weight loss this week: 5.8 lbs.
Total weight loss so far: 11.5 lbs.

42 Weeks Old

Caroline turned 42 weeks old last Tuesday..at least I'm posting about it within the right week. ;) Not much is new with Miss Caroline. She's an expert at pulling up and she's just starting to cruise a little bit. She loves to bother the dog in her walker. She can wave bye and shake her head no. She loves dancing with daddy and taking baths. She gets so excited when she hears that water running. We have a few purees left that we've been sending to daycare for lunch. Once those are gone she will be on all finger foods. We usually give her a little of whever we're having for dinner. She'll try anything once.

Here are some pictures. Last weekend we went to the San Antonio Zoo for the second time. She was much more interested in the animals this time. She has the cutest little facial expression and a sound that sounds like "woah" whenever she sees an animal.

9 month appointment (at 9.5 months)

Caroline had her 9 month pedi appointment today. She's 21lbs 8oz (75th-90th %), 28.75 inches (75%), and her head is in the 75th percentile. She's right on track with all of her milestones. They looked at her ears and, because they are healing so well, we don't have to see an ENT right now. If she gets another infection in the next few months, we will definitely have to go. I'm relieved that we don't have to worry about that right now but I'm nervous about her getting another infection.

Her next appointment is not until 12 months! This is all going by way too quickly.

McFatty Monday

I am on a roll! I haven't cheated once since I started this lifestyle change two weeks ago. I'm on day 10 of the Wii Active 30 Day Challenge and I can already tell that I am in better shape than I was two weeks ago. I feel great about my progress and I am not going to give up.

Weight loss this week: 2.2lbs
Total weight loss: 5.7lbs

Weeks 39-41

I have got to start coming up with some better titles soon! Sorry it's been so long since I have done a Caroline update. I've been super busy at work lately and now that I'm working out in the evenings, I'm super busy at home too.

Caroline has been sick this week. She had a fever Tuesday night so we stayed home on Wednesday and I took her to the pedi. She has another ear infection, which means we have to go to an ENT specialist and she might have to get tubes. She was fever free all day on Wednesday so she went back to daycare on Thursday. I got called around 2:30 to pick her up because she had vomited everywhere. Other than that, she was acting normal. We decided if she felt fine for the rest of the night, she could go back to daycare today because we thought she was having a reaction to the antibiotic. She was normal last night, so she went to daycare today. I got a call around 12:30 saying that she had vomited a few times and was refusing food. I didn't give her the antibiotic this morning so I guess she really is sick. She's been a little more clingy than usual but she hasn't thrown up. Hopefully it's just a quick bug.

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks.

Ordinary day

I just watched this video that was posted on someone else's blog and I had to post it here. If you're a parent, it's a great reminder to enjoy the ordinary days. (Make sure you have a tissue if you're overly emotional like me)

McFatty Monday..

I have been following this blog for a while and she started this check-in called McFatty Monday. I didn't read her blog in time to do the check-in on Monday last week so I guess this is my official first one.

Things went really well last week on the weight loss front. I stayed on track with my eating every day (even over the weekend). I even ate at the food court in the mall without giving in to the free samples or giant slices of pizza. I had Quiznos instead. I have worked out on five of the last seven days on the Wii Active. I have already noticed that my endurance has improved.

We're starting a workout challenge at work and we can earn time off for logging in a certain number of hours. I'm excited about having a place to track my workouts..and I love time off! ;)

Total weight loss this week: 2lbs.

Weight loss update..

In my professional pictures post about a month ago I whined about needing to lose a lot of weight (at least 60 lbs). As of two days ago, I have started the process. I am doing the Wii Active 30 Day Challenge and making much better eating choices. We purged the pantry, fridge, and freezer of all the junk and we loaded up on the good stuff. I already feel like we're in a nice little routine and I don't see us having any problems sticking with it. Luckily I have a very supportive husband who loves to eat healthy and exercise..(5 years ago, you would have never thought he would be that way).

I went back and did some research on Sparkpeople to remind myself of what I was eating every day when I lost weight the first time. I like to eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day. It makes things easier and I don't have to calculate calories for something new every day. Here's what my work day meals look like:

Breakfast:
Whole wheat, low carb cinnamon swirl bagel
1 tbs of fat free strawberry cream cheese..I might mix it up next week and do 1tbs of peanut butter instead to get some protein in early
Water with a Crystal Light Focus or Energy packet shaken in

Snack:
Small apple
1tbs peanut butter

Lunch:
Turkey and cheese sandwhich with light miracle whip and 2% cheese (I can't remember the bread name brand but it's Honey Wheat Light and only 40 calories a slice)
String cheese
Sugar free chocolate pudding

Snack:
"Cutie" orange
Sugar free applesauce if I'm still hungry

I'm not using Sparkpeople because I already know that these were good meals and snacks from last time.

We turned our study into a playroom and moved the Wii into there also. After dinner, Mario and I take turns working out and playing with Caroline. We're all in the same room together and she thinks it's funny to watch us run in place, etc. Being a working mom, it's important to spend as much time in the evenings with Caroline as possible. I think we've come up with a good solution.

I would love to hear from other moms that are trying to lose weight. The more vocal we are about doing this, the harder it is to fail.

9 months!!

This is a little late but it's almost impossible to find time to write a blog at home anymore. Caroline is fast..and wants to get into everything! Let's see if I can remember what's new since the last time I posted..I should start keeping a list.

  • She's crawling..fast!
  • She just started pulling up on things
  • She runs in her walker
  • She says mama, dada, papa (for food), baba, and a swear she says some version of what's that
  • She has really been testing out her voice lately..she loves to scream (not out of anger, but out of excitement)
  • She is becoming more friendly with strangers again and "shows off" for them
  • Her face is so expressive..it's too funny
  • She is more brave about not wanting to do things..she'll arch her back and get mad..this has made diaper changes more difficult..she wants to twist and turn the whole time
  • She's still sleeping in the bed with us..I don't know when that's going to end..we didn't even try to put her in the crib over Christmas break like we had planned
  • She's eating more solid foods but we still give her purees
  • She's getting better at using a sippy cup
  • She can hold her bottle and sometimes prefers that to having us feed her
  • For baths, she sits in the tub and she loves it!
Now for the pictures.
