We spent all day yesterday in San Antonio. We had a birthday dinner to go to for our niece so we decided to make a day out of it. We got up, cleaned house (if you don't know, my husband is a neat freak and a creature of habit..we have to clean the house every Saturday morning before we can do anything else), and got on the road at about noon. We were hoping Caroline would just nap in the car, and she did. We stopped at
Joesph's Storehouse for lunch..yum! They were voted San Antonio's best bakery and they have wonderful home cooked meals and sandwhiches.
After eating, we decided to avoid the Zoo (it was a madhouse!!) and go to the
Kiddie Park. I read reviews on the drive and they were very hit or miss so I didn't know what to expect. It's a little amusement park for kids 12 and under that was built in 1925. It's a little run down, but it has great character and it's perfect for toddlers! Caroline had a blast and we rode the carousel at least 10 times.
After we
wrestled a screaming toddler into the car calmly left the park, we headed to
El Chaparral in Helotes for the b-day dinner. Yum again! This place is great. We've been there several times. They have a big grassy area with a playground in the back for kids to run around. We waited until after we ate to go outside because it would have been
impossible hard to get Caroline inside to eat knowing there was a playground calling her name outside.
